Beth is a tremendous songwriter and performer, and her tracks have appeared all over the place, including Friday Night Lights, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, Dawson’s Creek, Magic Mike, and many more. My mom, Mitzie Wittliff, is from the bayou just north of NOLA and met my dad at LSU. I spent my early years there, so I was really excited to work on this with Beth. I tried to capture that unmistakable New Orleans gris gris with both the stock footage and the graphics, folding in an extra layer of boozy storytelling. Intentionally bad kerning is not something I get to do regularly, and I have to say it’s very liberating!

I’ve also done cover art for two of her albums, Beth Thornley and My Glass Eye. Our creative history goes way back, often involving her husband, Rob Cairns, who I’ve brought on to compose music for many of my projects over the years.
