JERDE | SHANGHAI BIENNALE INSTALLATION

Global architecture firm Jerde asked our team at DK Los Angeles to develop an immersive video presentation for their installation at the Shanghai Biennale (held at the Power Station of Art). The form was a large black box where visitors walked into and through a rectangular band of video displays and surround sound. We animated Jerde’s blueprints, master plans, and concept illustrations to bring to life the story of how they’ve created some of the world’s most iconic places since their inception in 1977.

Along with creative direction, I composed the original score for the piece. I used a sample set that included the Skiddaw lithophones, wooden instruments, and prepared piano—sounds specifically chosen to evoke construction materials and the building process. Several talented artists on this one, including Andrew Julien who is remarkably humble for a genius.
